The Barrel of a Gun takes an in-depth look at one of the most controversial cases in Philadelphia history—the 1981 murder of policeman Daniel Faulkner and the subsequent conviction of activist Mumia Abu-Jamal.

In 1981 Philadelphia policeman Daniel Faulkner was shot and Mumia Abu-Jamal was arrested and convicted for the crime. However, the story does not end there. After appeals, new evidence, activism from both sides, and international media attention, the case is perhaps more controversial today than ever. In December, Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams decided to no longer seek the death penalty for Abu-Jamal.

The Barrel of a Gun is a comprehensive documentary that investigates the case and examines both sides of the thirty-year debate between those who believe Mumia was wrongfully accused and imprisoned and those who see the media storm around the case as a distraction from a heinous crime. Featured interviews include widow Maureen Faulkner, Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham, former Governor Ed Rendell, and celebrities such as Ed Asner and Danny Glover.
